Every May CAMRA celebrates ‘Mild May’, an initiative to celebrate and highlight the beer style Mild, which was recently under threat of extinction due to a drop in popularity.
Since this year our festival is running from the 17-18 May it is slap bang in the middle of Mild Month, so we are, of course doing our bit. (more…)
Ever wondered what it takes to put on a beer festival? No? Didn’t think so. We’ll tell you anyway.
Our annual beer festival is months in the planning – in fact planning starts pretty much as soon as the previous festival finishes: there’s the venue to arrange, finances to secure, CAMRA paperwork to be completed, web sites to be maintained, health and safety to be satisfied, beers and ciders to be selected and ordered, bands to book… the list goes on, and it’s all done by a very small committee.
However, as the big weekend approaches reinforcements are called in as all the visible parts of the festival have to be pulled together. (more…)

Although we refer to the festival as a ‘beer festival’, this is just a kind of lazy short hand. It is really the Gloucester CAMRA Beer and Cider Festival. We are committed to providing a wide and interesting range of ciders and perries alongside our beers.
However, in recent years we’ve noticed that ‘traditional’ ciders have been less popular – all anyone seems to want are the fruity ciders. (more…)
